Weeds encroaching into the chipping green
This year the decision has been made to not overseed around the chipping green. As shown in the photo above, with years of continuous overseeding, weeds have encroached. The issue is the herbicides used to kill the weeds will also kill the overseed! Not overseeding this area will allow for the application of herbicides, to prevent and kill existing weeds. Long term, this is the best strategy to maintain weed free, healthy bermudagrass.
There is one trade off-divots. Divots taken will not heal until the bermudagrass begins to grow again in March. Use your turf wisely!
