Record Golf Rounds and Protecting the Course

2020 has been an interesting year weather and covid wise.  If you remember it rained a whole lot from January until July 1st.  After July 1st, we have had very little rain.  In fact, Timarron CC has received 7.5 inches of rain July thru November.  For that time period, the amount of rain that Timarron would typically receive on average is 15 inches.  So, in the last 5 month we are 50% below average on rain fall.  That is not a good start to growing high quality grass in Texas.

No question about it, golf cart tires cause the most damage to turf and Timarron is setting records in the amount of rounds members are playing.  Below are the year to date (YTD) rounds ending November 24th played in 2019 and 2020.

2019 YTD total golf rounds ending November 24th-32,369

2019 YTD cart rounds ending November 24th-23,073

2020 YTD total golf rounds ending November 24th-45,361

2020 YTD cart rounds ending November 24th-30,024

This is a 40% increase in total golf rounds played in 2020.

A 30% increase in cart rounds played in 2020.

Amazing!

With the lack of rainfall and record amount of golf rounds, your golf course is very beat down and tired. We need to protect it.  The 5 holes of cartpath only have given some of our most beat down holes a break from cart traffic.  This coming spring we will see the dividends of our cartpath only policy.
