From Golf Course Superintendent Aaron
Clary
It has been a very
busy last 30 days for Timarron golf course maintenance. Apart from
normal maintenance, we have added 200 tons of fresh bunker sand, cleaned-up
from 2 major rainstorms, and finished up winter projects. Were
excited to see the weather warming up and watch our turfgrass come out of
winter dormancy. Check out our GCM Blog, there's always good and
relevant info about current course conditions in our golf course
maintenance blog.
Winter Storm
Turfgrass Recovery
Members will notice
areas on the golf course where the turf has yet to begin to green up and
grow. These are all areas that were affected by the extreme cold
temperatures in February. The damage across the course is minimal,
but some plugs and sod will be needed. These repairs will be made
over the next 30-60 days.
Putting Greens
Putting greens
continue to progress and improve from the winter storm damage, but they
still need time and warmer weather to heal. We will need to install
some plugs of sod on some of the greens to help expedite there
recovery. Once we complete our April aerification, we will become
more aggressive with our greens maintenance and members will notice an
increase in green speeds.
April Aerification
April 27th
and 28th the course will be closed for aerification. We
will be aerifying greens, tees, and fairways. This is a necessary
practice to help relieve compaction, improve drainage, and provide a
suitable growing environment for our turf.
Timarron golf
course maintenance will continue to work hard to give our members the best
course conditions possible and communicate with timely updates.
Please remember to pick up broken tees, fix ball marks, and sand your
divots. Thank you for your continued support,
Aaron Clary
